We want to rattle sabers and install a new government in Syria? What? We tried that in Iraq. It didn't work. I don't know whether to be heartened by there only being 43 cosponsors or appalled that it garnered that many. Note this bill or one much like it was proposed in the last Congress, so we can take some solace in the fact that it didn't pass then. We can take further solace in the fact that the sponsor is a Republican and they are in the minority in both houses of Congress, especially the House.
H.R.1206 : To strengthen sanctions against the Government of Syria, to enhance multilateral commitment to address the Government of Syria's threatening policies, to establish a program to support a transition to a democratically-elected government in Syria, and for other purposes.
